Organic Pinto Beans are sometimes called Borlotti beans.

Organic Pinto beans have a pretty dappled appearance which disperses into a lovely pink colour once they are cooked.  This speckled pattern resembles a painting and the word pinto means ‘painted’ in Spanish.

Pinto beans are part of the family of common beans which includes red kidney beans, navy beans and black beans.  One 90g serving is high in Folate and a source of Protein, Thiamin (B1), Potassium, Manganese, Phosphorus and Copper.

These versatile beans go well in a range of dishes including chillis, stews, refried bean dishes and even cold dips.  They lend themselves to a range of flavours and are tasty alone or mixed with our other bean varieties such as organic black turtle beans, organic turtle beans or organic kidney beans.  As well as being versatile and tasty, pinto beans contain a wide range of essential nutrients.

If you like South American dishes then pinto beans are perfect for a wide range of Mexican chilli bean recipes and once mashed then make a perfect filling for burritos.
