Our Organic Shiitake Powder is a pale-brown fine powder produced from shiitake mushroom fruiting bodies, also known as Lentinus edodes. The fruiting bodies of the mushrooms are harvested, dried, granulated and then ground into a fine powder. The shiitake mushroom is native to Asia and amongst the most commonly cultivated fungi in the world. Consumed medicinally in Asia for centuries, shiitake are rich in polysaccharides (our variety is 3%) and other verified bio-active substances, likely responsible for a range of health benefits. Shiitake contains Lentinan, a polysaccharide extracted from Lentinula edodes and used in nutraceuticals. It also contains β-Glucan, a major bioactive component.
